Indian railway network is 4th largest in the world with 67956 km route and 71% of all broad gauge routes are electrified as of 1 April 2020. To that end IR has already completed greening of 20+ railway stations (including Ahmedabad Railway Station) and 30+ stations are in process of implementing IGBC Green Certification. Earlier this week on World Environment Day an important seminar was well received on Green Railway Station and Net Zero Building. This seminar was lead by Mr. Deepak Kumar Jha (Divisional Railway Manager Western Railway, AMD Division), Mr. Sameer Shinha (AMD CII-IGBC Chair & MD of Savvy), Mr. Jayesh Hariyani (AMD CII-IGBC Co-Chair & CMD of INI Design Studio, Mr Kartikayn (CII-IGBC Principal Counsellor). Such commitment to become net-zero carbon emitter from IR not only will provide enhanced experience to all travellers but will transform it by efficient use of resources and energy (including renewable energy), better health & hygiene and clean environment.
